Grilled Cheese on Challah

Grilled cheese on challah is everyone’s favorite childhood sandwich for good reason: it’s gooey,  comfort food goodness that takes minutes to prepare.

The Backstory: This may be a recipe geared for kids, but, I know many adults who would say, “Wait a minute, what about me?” After all we, as kids had grilled cheese on challah all the time. I used to make this sandwich (and still do) any time of the day or night. Sometimes at night my husband would ask me to make him something to eat after a long day of working at his bakery. After rattling off a list of what I was willing to make at such a late hour, this was his sandwich of choice. It was usually quite late but we both didn’t care.  When you are craving this cheesy hot treat who worries about the time? During the day when I prepare this, I will usually open up a can of soup, ( I was a Campbell’s kid, and I still am), pour an icy cold glass of milk and sit back and enjoy something that was part of my childhood. I know that you and your family will enjoy this comfort food, so go make some memories with your loved ones, or bring back some from your childhood. More of the Backstory after the recipe
